Yumanity Therapeutics announces the appointment of Devin W. Smith as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
FREMONT, CA: Devin W. Smith has been named Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Yumanity Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical firm dedicated to discovering and developing new, disease-modifying treatments for neurodegenerative illnesses.

“We are delighted to welcome Devin as our general counsel at Yumanity Therapeutics,” said Richard Peters, M.D., Ph.D., President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Yumanity Therapeutics. “His experience providing legal counsel to public emerging life science companies will be important as we advance three clinical programs, move new innovative assets to treat neurodegenerative diseases into our pipeline, look to expand corporate partnerships, and strengthen our balance sheet.”
Mr. Smith is an attorney with extensive experience advising biopharmaceutical firms on legal matters. He most recently worked for publicly traded Minerva Neurosciences as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. He offered strategic legal guidance and was accountable for corporate governance and SEC compliance. Mr. Smith previously worked for Stallergenes Greer PLC, a publicly-traded immunology firm, as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Mr. Smith worked at EMD Serono, Inc., the Merck KGaA biopharmaceutical business in the United States, as Associate General Counsel and Vice President and General Counsel before joining Stallergenes Greer. Mr. Smith was a partner at the multinational law firm Nixon Peabody LLP before joining the biopharmaceutical sector. Mr. Smith graduated from Suffolk University Law School with a J.D. (cum laude) and a B.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the Massachusetts and Illinois bar associations.
