The partnership was initiated in mid-2020, with the intent to produce long-term value through the alignment of manufacturing methods that allow clients to bring their products to patients seamlessly and quicker. Together, the two CDMOs are mutually improving their services by providing complementary skills and experience along the biopharmaceutical value chain. This announcement marks a milestone in the development of this essential collaboration.
The established framework consists of a collaboration agreement that regulates the intended contributions of both parties to ultimately generate added value for customers and patients around the world. Further operational agreements and guidelines between several departments, including Quality, Development Service and Logistics, have been deployed. These cover key standards for joint approaches and core inputs and processes across both firms to align interfaces and streamline services for the client's convenience and long-term planning.
The formation of the agreements and alignment on a client method were foundational steps that both Vetter and Rentschler Biopharma identified early in exploring this strategic alliance. The alignment of departments also includes the firms global business development teams. The two firms have now clearly defined the target markets for their collaboration, focusing on Europe, the US and the Asia-Pacific, and emerging markets. These client engagements will offer valuable insights for the teams to refine the alignment of the processes and approaches.
As their partnership matures, both companies will still independently address and service current and new clients. At the same time, they pursue further cooperative integration of their services in today’s rapidly evolving global healthcare environment. Both firms remain committed to simplifying and boosting promising new therapies for patients with rare diseases and will continue to pursue a range of strategic initiatives designed to help this goal globally.
