Cytovance Biologics and Phenotypeca improve Saccharomyces cerevisiae Strain development for microbial biomanufacturing.

It is anticipated that the collaboration between Cytovance Biologics and Phenotypeca will accelerate the development of high-performance yeast strains and improve the efficiency of biologics production for biopharma clients by leveraging Cytovance Biologics' extensive expertise in microbial fermentation and Phenotypeca's yeast strain development technology to produce high quality expressing cell lines. This partnership extends Cytovance Biologics' dominance in the end-to-end production of microbial-derived active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and enhances Phenotypecas' commercial reach.

In the biopharmaceutical business, Saccharomyces cerevisiae is widely utilized to safely manufacture therapeutic proteins and other biologics. Phenotypeca's strain breeding and unique genomic technology offer a new age of additional capabilities to this proven technology. Saccharomyces cerevisiae is well-suited to produce specific types of human proteins and can be used to produce biopharmaceuticals in tiny, efficient factories. The FDA has approved over twenty biopharmaceutical products using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as the production organism.
