McSAF's promising novel cancer treatment has relied on Novasep's ADC bioconjugation knowledge and process development capabilities.
FREMONT, CA: Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) offers highly active anti-cancer drugs to cancer cells via biodegradable, stable linkers and may distinguish between cancer and normal tissue. ADCITMER®, a next-generation ADC for treating neuroendocrine cancers, has been developed in collaboration with Novasep and McSAF, a French biotech specializing in treating neuroendocrine cancers bioconjugation tools to design innovative and efficient bio drugs for health and diagnostics.

Novasep has validated McSAF's bioconjugation technology by manufacturing the ADC at its state-of-the-art bioconjugation plant in Le Mans, France. With over 15 years of experience assisting ADC drug inventors, this site leveraged its unique expertise and purpose-built tools to assist McSAF with preclinical investigations in Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive kind of neuroendocrine cancer.
“The process transfer of our proprietary bioconjugation technology, McSAF Inside®, to Novasep is a huge step in McSAF's story and is a validation of the manufacturing process for our future product developments. Now, with this pilot batch, we will be able to illustrate further the therapeutic relevance of our ADC for metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma patients currently with unmet medical needs.” says Pr Marie-Claude Viaud-Massuard, Chief Scientific Officer of McSAF.
Earlier this year, Novasep was featured as one of the Top 10 Pharma Outsourcing Companies in Europe. The company has successfully implemented and optimized the ADC's laboratory procedure in-house. The method’s practicality has been established by completing a first "POC" (Proof of Concept) batch on a 600mg scale. This initial stage of ADCITMER® development is funded by the French region of Centre-Val de Loire through a collaboration program between the University of Tours and McSAF (ARD-CVL Biomédicaments).

Between 2018 and 2022, Novasep plans to triple the number of employees at its Le Mans facility, which presently employs about 130 people, due to the rapid development of this new generation of anti-cancer medications and the expansion of its production capacity.
