FREMONT, CA: Kadimastem, a cell therapy business, recently announced that it has received patent approval from the Japanese Patent Office for IsletRx, a novel diabetic treatment.IsletRx is a clinical-grade pancreatic Islet-Like Cluster (ILCs) cell line derived from human stem cells that can secrete insulin when blood sugar levels are low, and glucagon, a hormone that prevents hypoglycemia, when blood sugar levels drop in response to varying sugar levels (glucose) in the blood. IsletRX’s function is similar to that of a ‘healthy’ pancreas, and it helps to treat insulin-dependent diabetes like Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes.
