About John Maraganore
From 2002 until 2021, Dr. John Maraganore was the founding CEO and a Director of Alnylam. He established and managed the firm from its early RNA interference platform research through the global approval and commercialization of the first four RNAi therapeutic drugs. Before joining Alnylam, John worked at Millennium Pharmaceuticals and Biogen, where he held leadership positions in research, development, and other areas. At the University of Chicago, Dr. Maraganore earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology.
About Tassos Gianakakos
For eight years, Tassos Gianakakos was the CEO of MyoKardia, a firm focusing on finding new therapies to treat hereditary heart disease, until Bristol Myers Squibb acquired it in 2020. MyoKardia created many targeted cardiovascular drugs during his tenure, including mavacamten, which treats obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Before joining MyoKardia, he held executive positions at MAP Pharmaceuticals (now Allergan), Codexis Inc., and Maxygen. Mr. Gianakakos graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.Sc. in chemical engineering, an M.Sc. in biotechnology from Northwestern University, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Evelo is actively working on two product candidates to treat inflammatory diseases: EDP1815 and EDP2939. In addition, Evelo is developing several pharmaceutical candidates in different disease categories.
