FREMONT, CA: Immunovia AB, a diagnostic company that produces particular blood tests for timely identification of cancer and autoimmune diseases, recently revealed the findings of a report published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Proteome Science in its growth pipeline. These are the first proteomic data enabling four distinct inflammatory rheumatic diseases to be studied differently (IRDs).

Due to the range of symptoms, early and accurate diagnosis of inflammatory rheumatic illnesses is still a clinical challenge. The study's goal was to accomplish protein expression profiles that differentiate between four systemic IRDs, leading to severe and often permanent impairment, increased morbidity, and premature mortality if left unchecked. A number of 316 serum samples were analyzed utilizing Immunovia's recombinant antibody microarray (IMMrayTM) from patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), ANCA-associated systemic vasculitis (SV), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Sjögren's Syndrome (SS), and safety controls. Using Wilcoxon's signed-rank test, differential protein expression profiling was examined, and simplified biomarker panels representing every disease can be recognized by utilizing advanced bioinformatics and state-of-the-art classification algorithms.
Lead author Mattias Ohlsson, Professor Computational Biology and Biological Physics at Lund University, comments: "In this study we were able to classify the included individual IRDs with high accuracy, as demonstrated by ROC Area Under the Curve (ROC AUC) values ranging between 0.96 and 0.80. The groups of IRDs could be separated from healthy controls at a ROC AUC value of 0.94. We believe this supports the rationale of using IMMray™ to reflect the biological complexity of autoimmune diseases."
