Munich, Germany – The US trade magazine "Healthcare Tech Outlook" recently named ibidi GmbH one of the ten best European manufacturers of products for targeted cancer research. The Gräfelfingbased biotech company was once again recognised for its innovative strength in cell analysis and diagnostics: in 2021, it already received the award as the top provider of European virology laboratory equipment.
The "Healthcare Tech Outlook" reports on developments in healthcare technology for researchers from science and industry. Once a year, it selects the European market leaders that have a significant impact on important areas of healthcare. In 2023, the focus was on advanced oncology (cancer treatment).

The founder-managed medium-sized company ibidi GmbH develops, produces and distributes state-ofthe-art laboratory materials for cell research. In this highly innovative way, it enables academic and industrial institutes to approach cell-based diseases such as cancer with ever new questions. Almost 40,000 scientifically relevant research results have now been achieved with the help of patented ibidi products. This increases knowledge worldwide about the exact processes in the cell as the centre of all life. It also opens up new methods and active substances for fighting cancer and for organ health.
"Our BioTechnology provides the central moment for microscopy with living cells: We keep the cell healthy by precisely controlling the environment! At the same time, high-resolution images of cell dynamics and tissue functions are created, even over long phases," says Head of Development Dr Jan Schwarz, summarising the complexity. "Only in this way is it possible to observe cellular vitality, such as the interactions of proteins, or to evaluate the active ingredient potential of drugs."Special inventions precisely simulate the oxygen content of tissue or tumour cells. Others map the migration of individual cells in a chemical gradient in order to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of metastasis. With the ibidi pump system, the cell behaviour of tumour spheroids can be observed in 3D, as in veins through which blood flows.
The latest award emphasises not only the innovative strength and user-friendliness of ibidi products, but also their reliability. It is essential for cancer researchers in order to obtain valid, comparable and reproducible results. The same applies to research into cell-based cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases as well as clinical pharmaceuticals. "The biggest award is the research success of our customers," say the managing founders Dr Roman Zantl and Dr Valentin Kahl. "Because they increase the health chances of all of us."
