Fortress Biotech has announced that it has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Fuji Yakuhin to build Dotinurad.
FREMONT, CA: Fortress Biotech, Inc., a cutting-edge biopharmaceutical firm, announces that it has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Fuji Yakuhin Co. Ltd. (Fuji) to build Dotinurad in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Canada. Dotinurad is a possible best-in-class urate transporter (URAT1) inhibitor accepted in Japan in 2020 for treating diseases like gout and hyperuricemia. Hyperuricemia has also been linked to the development of chronic kidney disorder and heart failure, and Dotinurad might play a crucial role in treating these conditions.

Fuji granted the company unique development and marketing rights in North America and Europe under the conditions of the agreement. Fuji is qualified for the company's upfront, development, and commercial milestone payments, and even royalty payments. To advance and market Dotinurad, Fortress plans to use data from three completed Phase 3 clinical trials involving over 500 Japanese patients.

Fuji is a pharmaceutical organization with integrated manufacturing and sales systems that include ethical drug sales, placement drug sales, drugstore business, and pharmaceutical manufacturing business. Fuji invented and designed two drugs for gout and hyperuricemia, Topiroxostat and Dotinurad, with various mechanisms of action in terms of ethical drugs.
