Baris Erdogan, Vice President, Site & Patient Networks, at Clinerion, will succeed Ian Rentsch as Chief Executive Officer.
FREMONT, CA: Baris Erdogan, presently the Vice President, Site & Patient Networks, at Clinerion, is promoted by the Board of Directors as Chief Executive Officer as of January 1st, 2021. After a three-year journey, Clinerion’s present CEO, Ian Rentsch, has decided to step down for personal reasons and return to his Berlin family.

Ian Rentsch came to Clinerion as Chief Executive Officer from IQVIA in 2018, with over 24 years’ experience in corporate business, outsourcing management, and clinical research development positions at multinational companies, including biopharma in emerging markets. Rentsch successfully executed Clinerion’s strategy, intending to become the pioneer in real-world data services outside the U.S.A. In the three years of his journey, Clinerion doubled its revenues year-on-year and doubled the footprint and reach from the hospital network. Rentsch developed Clinerion as a strong and efficient partner for pharma, CROs, and hospitals.
Baris Erdogan, Ph.D., has been appointed as the new CEO of Clinerion and will take over from Ian Rentsch on January 1st, 2021. Erdogan started his career as a computer engineer from the Middle East Technical University and held an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in educational technology. He has expertise and experience in managing innovative medical informatics projects and the deployment of end-to-end healthcare IT enterprise information systems, both in the public and private industries. Erdogan came to Clinerion in 2013 and has been the driver of the continued rapid expansion of Clinerion’s global clinical network, currently with real-time, live data reach of more than 33 million patients in 17 countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Ian will help the transition to Baris Erdogan until the end of January 2021. For the Board of Directors, Baris is the successor as CEO. He knows Clinerion, the company’s excellent employees and outstanding technology, and has in-depth knowledge of clinical research. He will continue to drive Clinerion on the path set by Ian. Clinerion team is happy that it can fill the CEO position through internal promotion, demonstrating the quality of the bench at Clinerion.
