Heat Biologics confirms the appointment of Anthony Manning, Ph.D., as Chief Scientific Advisor.
FREMONT, CA: Heat Biologics, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical firm dedicated to developing first-in-class immune-modulating therapies, along with multiple oncology product candidates and a novel COVID-19 vaccine, has confirmed the appointment of Anthony Manning, Ph.D. as Chief Scientific Advisor. Dr. Manning will be in charge of strategic initiatives to accelerate the development of the Heat Biologics product portfolio.

Dr. Manning has more than three decades of experience in immunology and the research and development of autoimmune diseases. He was most recently Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Research at Momenta Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology organization based on biologic therapeutics for rare immune-mediated disorders. Dr. Manning oversaw all research activities at Momenta, such as discovering and developing three advanced autoimmune drug candidates. Johnson & Johnson recently purchased Momenta for approximately $6.5 billion.
Dr. Manning previously worked at Aileron Therapeutics as Senior Vice President of Research and Preclinical Development, where he was in charge of target selection, lead identification and optimization, clinical candidate selection, and IND-enabling studies. He also previously worked at Biogen as Vice President and Head of Inflammation and Autoimmune Disease Research. At Roche as Vice President and Global Therapy Area Head of Inflammation, Autoimmunity, and Transplantation Research.
He is even a member of the Palatin Technologies, Inc. Board of Directors, the Chairman of the Institute for Biomedical Entrepreneurship, and an Advisor to the Harvard Medical School Therapeutics Initiative. He is the author and inventor of more than 120 publications and patents in autoimmune disease and advanced drug discovery.
