For preclinical drug discovery, human primary liver cells are now available from AnaBios.
FREMONT, CA: Preclinical studies' ultimate goals are to accurately model the desired biological effect of a drug in animals to predict treatment outcomes in humans and identify and characterize all toxicities associated with a drug to predict adverse events in humans for informed consent. AnaBios will begin supplying high-quality human primary liver cells to pharmaceutical, biotech, and university institutions to improve preclinical drug discovery research.

Human livers are procured for research reasons from ethically consenting donors. The skilled team at AnaBios then isolates hepatocyes from the liver using patented technology. Hepatocytes of high quality are a necessary reagent for effective clinical development, with hepatocyte-based assays assisting in defining novel drug Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion (ADME) profiles. Additionally, primary human hepatocytes are critical for determining the hepatotoxicity of novel therapeutics. AnaBios' ambition to establish significant new ex vivo human models for better drug development continues with this new area of concentration.
Orlando Mendoza has been appointed Business Development Manager for AnaBios' new liver cell business. Mendoza will assist the organization in developing a strategic plan for growth in this critical area of preclinical drug research. He joins AnaBios from Promethera Biosciences DBA Novabiosis, where he assisted in the establishment and development of the company in preparation for its acquisition.
