The acquisition can help assist in small-scale, customized experiments with specialized skills that conserve limited compound sources.
FREMONT, CA: Today, a safer and healthier world is a pressing priority. Thus, a go-to resource for high-quality life sciences and environmental lab testing and analysis, as well as scientific lab staffing, regulatory, and equipment service, is what businesses look up to. More often, the work requires collaboration with firms, providing them with the research and data they require to make vital decisions that benefit all. With this notion, Pace Analytical Life Sciences, a subsidiary of Pace Analytical Services, full-service contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), acquired Velesco Pharmaceutical Services, a CDMO specializing in the development of liquid, semi-solid, and oral solid dosage products.

Pace can now offer a broader range of support choices, from binary solutions to complex self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS), and tailor them to the client's molecule, dose range, and drug delivery route, owing to the acquisition of Velesco.
"Pace scientists and professionals provide expertise and support to clients throughout their drug development timeline," said Eric Roman, CEO of Pace Analytical. "Adding Velesco to our portfolio is representative of our commitment to supporting customers across the drug delivery spectrum."
Pace's expertise, experience, capabilities, and clinical trial material manufacturing capability are also extended to Velesco's clients, including:
- Expertise in formulating pharmaceuticals for non-clinical toxicity studies.
- Small-scale, customized experiments with specialized skills that conserve limited compound sources.
- Complex drug product formulations are supported, such as softgel capsules, suspensions, and other non-sterile liquid pharmaceutical drug products.
David Barnes, Ph.D., Velesco's Co-founder and CEO, will join Pace as Vice President, Scientific Affairs, and Gerry Cox, Velesco's Co-founder and COO, will join Pace as Vice President, Commercial Development. They will continue to build on their remarkable track record of servicing customers in their new roles, while also providing valuable insight and leadership to the Pace network. "Dave Barnes and Gerry Cox have much to offer to the Pace team, and we are excited to have them continue on in key roles," notes Greg Kupp, President of Pace Life Sciences. "The reputation of the Velesco team, their strong history and flexible response to client demand, make this a great cultural fit while adding tremendous value to our clients."
