Brad Goskowicz, CEOAddressing a gap in the market for an all-in-one CRMO partner is Minnesota-based Microbiologics. Brad Goskowicz, Microbiologics Chief Executive Officer, comments, “More often than not, R&D departments are juggling multiple projects simultaneously, making it difficult to meet demanding timelines and strict regulatory requirements. Biopharma researchers can leverage Microbiologics for our extensive biomaterials catalog, high-throughput testing and manufacturing capacity, and our deep microbiology and virology expertise to achieve their goals on-time and on-budget.”
Microbiologics has a proven track record of partnering with biopharmaceutical companies to successfully bring new life-saving anti-infective drugs, vaccines and therapeutics to market. The company’s core focus is to protect the health and safety of people around the world through continuous scientific innovation. With a highly collaborative approach, Microbiologics provides a full range of biomaterial products and laboratory services including antibacterial, antifungal and anti-viral drug testing, assay development, microbial growth and preservation, viral stock production, microbiome research, repository of 100,000+ clinically important microbial and viral strains, consulting services for drug submission and approval, and qualitative and quantitative microbial controls and challenge organisms.
Another highlighting aspect of Microbiologics is its multiple state-of-the art facilities including biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) and biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories, as well as industry-leading quality systems. “Each of our locations has an area of specialization. For example, our facility in San Diego, California is our Global Virology Center where they focus on antiviral testing, assay development and viral stock production. In Kalamazoo, Michigan, we have our Antibiotic and Microbiome Research Center. The team there specializes in antibacterial and antifungal drug testing, as well as microbiome research services,” commented Goskowicz. “This allows us to apply our inventive spirit, deep expertise, vast resources, and unparalleled support to deliver the best products and services for our clients with each engagement,” he added.![]()
At the heart of everything we do is an uncompromising commitment to supporting our partners on the frontlines and creating confidence is science
Taking a deeper look at Microbiologics’ products and capabilities, it’s clear the company has a passion for co-creating and pursuing new ideas together with the scientific community. In addition to supporting biopharmaceutical researchers from discovery and development through post-market surveillance, Microbiologics also partners with diagnostic instrument and assay providers to design and manufacture biological controls used for verification and ongoing quality control testing of their platforms.
Goskowicz ended by saying, “At the heart of everything we do is an uncompromising commitment to supporting our partners on the frontlines and creating confidence is science. We care deeply about our clients’ needs and understand the impact their products will have on the lives of people throughout the world; it’s what drives us to continuously push ourselves to find better answers, better solutions, and better ways to serve.”

Microbiologics, a biotechnology products and services leader, has chosen Kristen Knox as CEO of the company. An accomplished medical device and life-sciences executive, Knox will assume the role from Brad Goskowicz who served as CEO for 12 years.
During his tenure as CEO of Microbiologics, Goskowicz built an award-winning culture and grew the company’s annual revenues approximately eightfold.
“I have truly enjoyed my time at Microbiologics and working alongside the many wonderful teammates who have become extended family to me," Goskowicz said. "Kristen is an exceptional leader and I am confident the best is yet to come for Microbiologics. I look forward to cheering us on to even greater achievements in the future.”
Goskowicz will continue to support Microbiologics' strategic vision as he transitions to Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Knox started her career in marketing for healthcare leaders including Mayo Clinic, Ottobock Healthcare and Coloplast. She went on to work for a life-sciences tools company, Data Sciences International, serving in various leadership roles before being appointed to CEO. Most recently, she was Senior VP and General Manager of ACIST Medical Systems, a cardiovascular diagnostic solutions provider.
Knox earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of St. Thomas and a master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University.
“Kristen is an excellent fit as the next CEO of Microbiologics, not only because of her experience and accomplishments in the medical device industry, but also because of her passion for building culture and purpose-driven principles,” said Pat Edeburn, co-founder and operating partner of Microbiologics’ parent company, Granite Partners. “I look forward to seeing where Kristen’s leadership will take Microbiologics.”
“I am deeply inspired and motivated by making a positive impact on human lives, and I strongly believe in the power of science,” added Knox. “Microbiologics has a long history of creating confidence in science for a safer, healthier world.
