Joel L. Dunn’s career is defined by a steadfast commitment to maintaining the integrity of pharmaceutical practices. He began his career in pharmaceutical compliance with over 16 years of experience at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, where he held leadership roles including diversion group supervisor and staff coordinator. During his tenure, he oversaw multi-jurisdictional and international investigations and provided subject matter expertise in pharmaceutical law and online diversion.
Upon transitioning to the private sector, Dunn applied his extensive public-sector experience to strengthen Mallinckrodt’s compliance strategies. His ability to fuse legal acumen with data-driven approaches has enhanced the SOMS, embedded analytics into compliance processes, and established new standards for informed, proactive decision-making.
Previously, as manager of controlled substance compliance at Mallinckrodt, Dunn played a key role in developing SOMS, performing due diligence, and supporting inspections of registered facilities. These efforts were critical in identifying diversion risks and maintaining regulatory alignment.

Now, he leads initiatives in data analytics and regulatory compliance, with a focus on managing SOMS, conducting investigations and applying statistical modeling across departments.
