GATC Health is addressing the high cost of medicine with its Multiomics Advanced Technology™ (MAT) drug discovery and development platform. MAT can discover a small, highly-qualified set of compounds in just months, compared to the typical result of thousands of compounds that require years to narrow down. GATC Health can potentially save the pharmaceutical industry billions of dollars by enabling them to focus only on pre-qualified drug candidates versus wasting resources on the majority that are destined to fail.

GATC’s MAT platform surpasses other drug discovery AI technology by simulating human biochemistry’s billions of interactions for accurate and rapid novel target identification, drug discovery, drug development and repurposing of failed drugs. The MAT platform processes and analyzes 400 trillion genetic and multiomic data points in seven minutes and simulates biochemical interactions to accurately predict the response of a pharmaceutical asset to a specific disease. In a triple-blind retrospective study analyzing 14,000 known compounds, MAT accurately identified drug candidates that would have a beneficial effect on human biology with 88% accuracy while spotting failures with 84% accuracy. This is an 11x increase over the current industry lead optimization success rate of approximately 8%.

Reducing Risk in the Drug Discovery Process

Existing AI technology results in thousands – at best many hundreds – of potential compounds that must go through lengthy testing to narrow the field to a small number of quality compounds that have a better chance of becoming a new drug.

The difference between what the AI delivers and the testing that is still required is commonly known as the “AI Gap”.

Lower Cost and Higher Efficiency

Typically, years and tens of millions of dollars are spent in the preclinical phase (before submitting an application to the FDA for clinical trials). In addition, if a drug fails Phase 3 human trials, hundreds of millions of dollars and many more years are lost. In as little as three to six months, GATC’s MAT platform assembles lead compounds (in-silico) and rapidly filters thousands of alternatives to deliver a successfully optimized small set of high-quality drug candidates. At the current pace, GATC has the ability to discover and develop as many as 10-12 new drugs in 2024 expanding in following years based on further scaling the platform—each with potential values of hundreds of millions of dollars. Recent deals are demonstrating the value of AI in drug discovery. For example, last year Sanofi signed a deal with Exscientia to use their AI to develop 15 small molecule candidates for possible total payouts of as much as $5.2 billion. Based on over $300 million value per optimized molecule candidate in the Exscientia deal, GATC could produce billions of dollars in value per year from its drug discovery platform.

Healing vs Treatment

Success in Pre-clinical Trials

The first set of drugs discovered by GATC Health target fentanyl addiction, cocaine addiction and PTSD. These are in preclinical testing with the fentanyl addiction compound in advanced animal trials with the University of California, Irvine. Due to the advanced discovery methodology used by GATC, animal trials may not be necessary in the future. In fact, the FDA Modernization Act 2.0 signed into law in December 2022, ends an FDA mandate that experimental drugs must be tested on animals before they are used on humans in clinical trials. The new legislation allows emerging technologies, including GATC’s computer modelling, to be used to advance drug leads to human trials without the requirement of animal testing.

The non-addictive compound for the treatment of fentanyl addiction is designed to treat Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) by returning the addicted brain back to its natural, healthy state while maintaining sufficient dopamine levels in the addiction and reward centers to reduce discomfort and agitation. This novel approach will also promote remodeling of the brain limbic system by increasing neuroplasticity, thereby facilitating shifts away from learned addiction patterns of thoughts and behaviour. Discovered using GATC’s MAT platform, the drug mechanism is potentially the first to re-wire and restore the brain and it may have application for the treatment of other neurological diseases, including anxiety, depression and Alzheimer’s.
